Situation Report

Due to faulty intelligence on enemy force size, we've been pushed back three times from taking Darwin Hill, and are running low on manpower. 2 Para D Company is currently combat ineffective and aside from HQ, your unit is all we have in reserve. It is up to you, with assistance of our sister companies, to break through the enemy defense network and take Darwin Hill. The enemy has AA emplacements and the sinking of the SS Atlantic Conveyor have resulted in 2 Para not having any support aircraft so we need to rely on what the 29th Commandos can spare. We have Air Assets on standby but AA emplacements must be neutralized before we can effectively use them. Enemy personnel has also been effective with AT weapons, most of our Armor has been destroyed or disabled but expect more to arrive if we can muster from other companies or fix what we have. The HMS Arrow is able to provide artillery support but dont expect for her pummel the positions forever, she has a limited arsenal and has to hold a blockade to prevent enemy ships from landing on our flank.

Real world Context for you History Nerds The Battle of Goose Green (28–29 May 1982), specifically Darwin Hill, was an engagement between British and Argentine forces during the Falklands War which lasted 74 days. This sector is the Darwin Isthmus, a natural land bridge connecting the Eastern island into one. The British Task Force was put together hastily, which resulted in the British being drastically outnumbered on the field and didn't have air superiority in the early parts of this battle. Total British ground force, which is comprised of SAS, Royal Marines, and a Parachute Regiment, is estimated to be 690 men, while the Argentinian Defenders had a estimated combined force of 1,000 men which included Special Forces and Marines. Though being pushed back three times, 2 Para loosing the Regiments Commanding Officer, and the weather not letting up, the British won the battle with fewer casualties compared to the Argentinians.
